Kingspan Off-Site Makes Friends in Norwich

25 Oct 2007

TEK Building Systems from Kingspan Off-Site have been used in the redevelopment of a brownfield site in Norwich to create a collection of affordable homes and homes for rent. The Kingspan Off-Site SIP based timber frame systems were specified for the development because of the design flexibility offered, the high levels of thermal efficiency and the speed of build.

The development in Friends Road, Norwich, will offer properties available to rent as well as some for shared ownership. Built by affordable housing developer Lovell, the homes were built for Circle Anglia as part of a bigger, citywide regeneration project in partnership with Norwich City Council.

The site was formerly home to a collection of disused garages, which made way for the new residential area, part of a phased development plan to turn neglected brownfield sites into affordable accommodation.

Simon Medler, regional director at Lovell, explained: “The Kingspan Off-Site TEK Building System was specified because of its strong environmental credentials, the employment of modern methods of construction, which we support, and the high levels of thermal efficiency.

“The design flexibility offered by the Kingspan Off-Site TEK Building System was also a factor in our choice. The system has also been specified across other development sites where we are developing more brownfield sites with new affordable homes.”
