TEK Building System
The TEK® Building System comprises Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) connected with a unique jointing system for walls, roofs and timber I-beams or posi-joists for intermediate floors. Timber, worldwide, is traditionally the most widely used building material. It is easy to handle, natural and brings flexibility to design.
Today, many buildings are built with
traditional timber frame structures and this trend will grow as
Building Regulations / Standards strive for better U-values and the
construction industry drives for more and more off-site
manufacturing.
Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) technology is the next generation of timber based construction. It has seen rapid growth in North America in the construction of whole buildings and the growth of Structural Insulated Panel roofs has been equally so if not more rapid in Holland and other NW European countries.
The Structural Insulated Panels are made up of two OSB/3 (Oriented Strand Board) boards with a zero Ozone Depletion Potential (zero ODP) rigid urethane insulation core. The OSB/3 boards are not bonded to the insulation in a secondary process. They are autohesively bonded to the rigid urethane insulation core during manufacture resulting in superior adhesive strength to the bond between the core and the OSB/3 boards.

This is a process which leads to premium structural properties. The proven combination of OSB/3 boards and the rigid urethane insulation core provides for the extreme resilience of Kingspan TEK Structural Insulated Panels. Thanks to these properties, the Kingspan TEK Building System gives a structure proven performance.
Kingspan TEK Structural Insulated Panels are manufactured at Kingspan Off-Site's state-of–the-art production facility situated in Northern Germany.
The
Deutsche Institut für Bautechnik (the German construction
industry’s supervisory board) started testing the Kingspan
TEK Building System according to stringent German standards in
1993, and in 1995 the System was awarded a Zulassung certificate
(the German equivalent of a BBA Certificate). Since 1995, the
Deutsche Institut für Bautechnik have continuously monitored
test results on the System.
Technical Support
Kingspan Off-Site offers a wide range of support.
The Kingspan TEK Building System is only installed by a trained network of Registered Contractors.
House designs can also be converted to incorporate room in roof using the TEK Building System.
The Kingspan TEK design service ensures that buildings comply with the Building Regulations / Standards (Conservation of Fuel and Power / Energy).
The Kingspan Off-Site Technical Advisory Service can perform a wide variety of relevant calculations including: U-values, condensation risk, SAP, NHER, Home Energy Rating.
For further guidance on calculations for attachment of roof tiles relating to sliding load and wind uplift please contact technical.uk@kingspanoffsite.com.
Ongoing sharing of expertise between Kingspan Off-Site and other companies who work with the TEK Building System ensure that you remain informed about technical improvements.
